Want to get some online poker instruction but don’t know where to start? It’s always good to read some instruction before starting to play, but there’s no substitute for reading like actual experience. If you’re willing to learn poker at a minimum of risk to yourself then you should probably start with a Sit and Go poker room.
Sit and Go games usually involve upwards of 10 players all playing at the same table, with multiple tables playing at the same time. Each table may have more or less players depending on the number of tables providing poker instruction. Be sure to go for a game with a low buy-in cost at first to minimize your losses in case you’re defeated (and if this is your first time you probably will be).
Sit and Go poker games typically last about an hour and a half to two hours and can help you hone your skills, particularly your mathematical statistics instruction skills. You’ll play with a multitude of players online and learn the intricacies of the game at a low cost, not to mention learn how best to read players, how to bet, how to fold, and when to bluff. Try to sign up for a Sit and Go tournament that has only two or three tables.
If this isn’t enough, there are a lot of poker instruction guides out there to aid you. Either look for free advice online or go to your nearest book store and check their stock. You’re likely to find what you’re looking for with a minimum of hassle, and if you’re playing a Sit and Go game online you can use the guide to help plan your strategies as you play. Just be sure not to take too long reading as you might irritate the other players and get yourself booted from the tournament.
There are plenty of ways to receive good, quality instruction on playing poker, but again there’s no substitute for actual experience. Start with a minimum and work your way up. You’ll be rolling in the big cash in no time.
