Poker strategy

A good poker strategy is usually focused around aggressive betting and clamping down ferociously on the hand until the very last second. A lot of poker players will swear by this strategy as the only way to go.
Fortunately for the more conservative player, that’s not true. There are a lot of solid reasons to hold on to the strategy of the bluff. Why? Well, let’s have a look.
The point of any card game is to increase your chances of winning and decrease the amount of loss you’re likely to be hit with. That’s consistent with any game, not just those played with cards. And since any poker strategy usually focuses around money, it’s doubly important that you establish a consistent, solid strategy. So why not use one that reduces the amount of risk to your cash?
It’s human nature to believe that your hand is superior to everyone else’s. It’s a confidence born of playing lots of cards. Unfortunately, more often that not other players at the table aren’t bluffing about their hands, and have better combinations than you. So unless you have full confidence in your hand, be sure to fold early and minimize your losses. Not only will you save poker money that way, you’ll stay on the poker table a great deal longer, maximizing your chances of getting a great hand and winning it big in the end.
It’s also great for bluffing. Once you’ve established yourself as a poker player who folds whenever their hand is weak, you’ll be able to take huge pots by staying in and freaking your fellow players out. They’ll think you’ve got the strongest hand of them all and opt out on you, when in fact you’ve got an extremely weak hand.
More, by folding you get the chance to find out the betting habits of the other players in more detail without having to focus on your own hand. Knowing how players react is important in predicting what they’ll do in subsequent hands, as most players are consistent in their strategy.
